Getting Spooky for Halloween
This week we have been getting all spooky with all things Halloween. The children have really enjoyed all the immersive experiences and have created some wonderful art and craft. They are all very excited that Halloween is fast approaching.

Bringing Imagination to Life
Our young toymakers have been exploring our new IPC topic, The Magic Toymaker, through exciting hands-on activities. After sharing their favourite toys and discovering how toys can be made from different materials, the children put their creativity to the test by designing and making their own Halloween-themed toys! It has been wonderful to see the children develop their creativity, imagination and practical skills while bringing their ideas to life. We look forward to seeing what our little toymakers will create next as we continue our exciting IPC journey!

Discovering the World Through Our Senses
Year 2 launched their new topic with an exciting Entry Point all about the five senses! The children rotated through a range of hands-on activities to discover how our bodies help us explore the world.
They were fascinated by optical illusions and discussed how our eyes can trick our brains. At the taste and smell stations, they used their noses and tongues to identify mystery foods and scents, describing them as sweet, sour, salty or bitter. In the touchy-feely boxes, children used descriptive words like rough, squishy and bumpy to guess hidden objects without looking.

Bringing Stories to Life Through Movement
Storytelling through movement helps children unlock their creativity as they bring stories to life. By working as a team, pupils learn how to communicate effectively, support one another, and refine their ideas together. This fun, collaborative activity builds strong teamwork and boosts their confidence in self-expression.

Learning Vietnamese Through Hands-on Experiences
In Vietnamese, after reading the model text "How do you make a Vietnamese egg banh mi?" (Làm bánh mì trứng như thế nào?), the children worked in pairs to create their own models of bánh mì trứng. This hands-on activity helped them remember the ingredients and reinforce their understanding of the instructions in the model text.

Young Reporters Explore Space
Year 5 students enthusiastically took on the roles of young reporters to interview Vietnamese cosmonaut Pham Tuan. Through this engaging role-play activity, students developed their questioning, listening, speaking and communication skills. It also provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of space exploration, nurture their curiosity and inspire a passion for scientific discovery.

Taking Action for Wildlife Conservation
The students became wildlife conservation campaigners, each taking on the challenge of raising awareness about an endangered animal or plant. Armed with their own species fact cards, they researched the threats facing their species and created powerful campaign posters, informative fact files or persuasive speeches.

Business, Economics and Computer Science Validated Self Evaluation
This week, the Leadership Team has been visiting lots of Business, Economics and Computer Science Lessons as part of our Validated Self Evaluation programme. This allows us to look at the student experience, identify important strengths, and any potential next steps to improve. A key part of this process is student involvement. Many students participated in focus groups and Nguyen Minh Phuong Nga, Nguyen Le Khanh Ngoc and Nguyen The Gia Bao were our lead students who observed lessons and provided valuable insights and feedback.

Halloween Dress Up
On Friday Secondary students embraced the Halloween Spirit and dressed up! Prizes were awarded for the most creative costumes!

HAC Trials
The end of season 1 HAC tournaments will be played on Saturday the 7th of November and as a result we will immediately begin preparations for season 2. Trials for KS4 and 5 Basketball and KS3 football will take place this week so that training can begin in the week beginning November 9th.
Good luck to all of our Dragons representing the school in the coming weeks and good luck to all those attending trials!

Geography Antarctica Flag Competition
We are delighted to announce the results of this year's Antarctica Flag Competition. Students were challenged to design a flag that represented Antarctica, demonstrating both creativity and an understanding of this unique continent.
The winning designs have now been selected and will be sent to the UK Polar Network before continuing their journey to Antarctica. We hope to receive photographs of the flags being displayed there within the next six months.
