Ailsa graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London, with a BA Honours in Social Policy. Following this, she completed a PGCE in Primary Education at Bath Spa University.
Since graduating, Ailsa has gained extensive teaching experience across a range of inclusive educational settings, supporting diverse learner needs and profiles. She has also held leadership roles co-coordinating KS1 and EYFS. Ailsa was appointed as Pathway 3 Leader at DCIS in 2023, following her leadership of Pathway 2 since 2019.
Ailsa is a passionate advocate for inclusive education and is deeply committed to a neuro-affirmative, strengths-based approach that recognises and celebrates the whole child. She is continually developing her knowledge and practice, with a focus on holistic and therapeutic methodologies that strengthen teaching and learning. Ailsa places great value on nurturing children’s social and emotional wellbeing, empowering every student to develop independence, confidence and a strong sense of identity.
Ailsa enjoys spending time with her family and exploring all the wonderful places this part of the world has to offer. Staying active is important to her, and she enjoys horse riding, Pilates, and running with her dog, Banksy! She also loves playing the piano and ukulele, which she often shares in class. Ailsa volunteers with the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and is delighted to collaborate with them to provide therapeutic riding sessions for DCIS students.
