Beyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom - Beyond the Classroom

At BSG, we believe that our World Class education experience can be found not only on our ‘well-being boosting’ lakeside campus, but also in the experiences we provide ‘Beyond the Classroom’.

It happens on a mountain peak in Switzerland, on safari in Tanzania, at the Social Impact conference in Texas, in the adrenaline of a sports final, in the performance of a lifetime on a global stage, and in the quiet dignity of serving our local community through our feeding programme.

Whilst academic excellence is our foundation, it is the outstanding enrichment experiences we offer outside the timetable that truly shape the character of our students.

The Great Outdoors: Residential Trips

Our residential programmes from Years 3 to 13 are designed to push boundaries. Whether it is part of a Social Impact beach clean, or a farm to plate food experience, these trips teach sustainability and resilience.

Coupled with our international expeditions which truly transform perspectives. In Switzerland, students trade their textbooks for a harnesses and hiking boots, learning the value of teamwork and the sheer power of "mind over matter." They return with a profound sense of personal achievement and a love for the natural world.

In Tanzania: our students work in partnership to engage and provide facilities for local communities; building infrastructure and teaching in schools. It is a humbling experience that redefines their understanding of privilege and global citizenship.

Academic Rigour: Competitions

For the intellectually curious, the classroom extends into the arena of academic competition. We encourage our students to pit their wits against the best in regional and national competitions.

From the Maths Challenge to Science Olympiad from debating leagues to World Scholar Cup; our students hone their critical thinking, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. These are not just "won" or "lost"; they are opportunities to learn how to perform under pressure, think on your feet, and collaborate with high-performing peers.

Physical Grit: School Sport

Sport is the ultimate teacher of character. We believe in sport for all, not just the elite.

Whether it is the camaraderie of the football, volleyball and basketball teams, to the precision of the badminton and table tennis teams, or the individual discipline of cross country atheltes and swimmer, our sports programme instils discipline, health, and teamwork. More importantly, it teaches our students to win with humility.

A Heart for Others: Social Impact

Service is at the core of our identity. Our Social Impact programme reaches out to our local, national, and international communities.Students volunteering within our own school, a local special schools, or in feeding the homeless in Guangzhou, students build bridges between generations and social groups.

Nationally and internationally we have supported charities, disaster relief and fundraising campaigns. Our ‘global connectedness’ on full display.

The Stage is Yours: Music and Performing Arts

Creativity is the soul of our school. Our musicians and performers do not just play in the school hall; they take their talents to the wider stages regularly performing at local festivals, national competitions, and international music tours. Whether it is our orchestra, an ensemble or band playing, or our choir singing these events give our students the confidence to express themselves. They learn the discipline of practice, the beauty of collaboration, and the joy of moving an audience.

Life-Changing Horizons

Why do we look ‘Beyond the Classrooms’?

Because the world is a classroom without walls.

Our students build courage, they develop gratitude, they learn perspective, they find purpose. These experiences create global citizens who understand that the world is vast, diverse, and interconnected.

Ultimately, all of these activities and experiences, enable students to develop their ‘Character’ which guides them into adulthood:

Your child’s education journey is a story; make sure the chapters include ‘beyond the classroom’ adventures.
